CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (CEQA)

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires State Parks to conduct an analysis of the potential physical environmental impacts of implementing the Dos Rios Classification and General Plan. This analysis will help inform decision makers and the public about potentially significant impacts and methods to reduce those impacts to the extent feasible.

State Parks will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that will:

  • Document existing conditions.
  • Evaluate how the project could impact topics such as air quality, agriculture, biological and cultural resources, hydrology, noise, transportation, among other topics.
  • Identify mitigation measures to avoid, minimize, rectify, reduce, eliminate, or compensate for any identified significant impacts.
  • Evaluate potential alternatives to the project that could reduce any identified significant environmental impacts.

This EIR will be used to evaluate the impacts of the Dos Rios Classification and General Plan; future individual development projects would still need to undergo project-specific CEQA review.
